Springboard to Japan?
Shortly before Corona, the up-and-coming fighter was active in Japan for the first time and won the gold medal at the Odawara BJJ Open. The fact that he defeated a fighter from the dojo of Shooto legend Rumina Sato in the final fight early by submission, brought him finally on the radar of Shooto Japan. Talks were already underway for Sven's first professional fight in Japan. But unfortunately the Corona Pandemic shattered all hopes of a fight in the land of the rising sun.
Then this June, Sven made headlines again with a remarkable fight against Japanese K1 star Shingo Yokoyama. His visibly improved stand-up was evident and with two medals at the ADCC German National Championships this year, he also showed that his ground fighting had improved tremendously.
