Tanja Angerer writes another piece of German Shooto history. She will fight her first fight in an 8-women tournament for the Shooto title in Super Atom Weight on November 24. She had already signed the contract for her participation last week, they wanted to wait with the announcement of this sensational news until after the release by ...
The No. 2 of the German "Pound for Pound" Rankings is no longer an unknown in the land of the rising sun. By winning the Superfight "Germany vs. Japan" at SHOOTO KINGS she had recommended herself for her first assignment at DEEP "Jewels" and defeated the Japanese Date on points in her debut in Japan. Against RIZIN veteran Mika Nagano she also entered the ring at "Jewels" and managed to win a draw, although even one of the Japanese judges had given the fight to her (0-0-1), while the other two judges saw the fight as a complete draw.
At SHOOTO KINGS last May, it finally came to the long-awaited duel against the RIZIN veteran Bestare Kicaj from Switzerland. Shooto promoter Kazuhiro Sakamoto had flown in from Japan especially for this purpose to get a picture of the female athletes. After Kicaj dominated the fight over two rounds with her strong Striking, Angerer managed the early victory in round 3 with a picture book armbar and thus recommended for lucrative fights in Japan at Shooto.
Now the long wait has finally come to an end. Last week finally came the longed-for contract for participation in the tournament, which extends over three events. The winner will not only receive 1,000,000 yen in prize money, but also the right, as the reigning champion of Shooto, to a direct title fight at Branchen Primus ONE FC. A gigantic career leap that is within reach here.
It is not yet known who Tanja Angerer will face in the opening match on November 24, but it can be assumed that she will be well prepared. At the same event, teammate Markus Held will fight against the Japanese MMA legend Caol Uno.
