Being a champion of an organization is no walk in the park. You are at the top and you have to stand your ground and prove yourself. Someone who really exemplifies and implements this very well is the reigning featherweight champion of Shooto in Germany Markus Held from German Top Team HQ in Reutlingen.
After he won the title last December with a submission from the then champion Tobias Thiago Huber, it was not long to celebrate. Because just 24 hours later came the offer from Japan to fight in just four weeks against the reigning world champion from Japan Yutaka Saito in Japan. Markus took up the challenge, traveled to Japan and faced the world champion, to whom he lost by TKO in round 2.
Who now thinks that after such a defeat with Markus the "slow gear" is switched on, was mistaken. When it became clear that he should fight again in Japan in Shooto in November, he immediately expressed a desired opponent: Caol Uno!
As requested, so delivered. Today the contract for the long awaited fight for Markus arrived at the German Top Team and it's official: on November 24 Markus will fight the Shooto legend Caol Uno in the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Uno is an absolute world star and with almost 60 professional fights he is far superior to Markus in experience. There is probably no big name or label that Uno has not fought against or for.
An incredible challenge for the young Reutlinger, who will now prepare intensively for the next months for this fight with his team. We keep our fingers crossed for him!
