Fortenbacher vs. Yokoyama
Sven "Fujin" Fortenbacher, Uchi-Deshi of Peter Angerer Shihan, is facing probably the most important fight of his career. The 28 year old Shidokan Triathlon World Champion of 2018 (Ukraine) will meet in June at the "Soeno Cup" in Volos (Greece) with none other than Japan's Shingo Yokoyama, multiple winner of the All Japan Shidokan Open and Shidokan Triathlon World Champion 2019 (Kuwait).
The fight has an enormous explosiveness, because here two world champions in Shidokan triathlon (karate, kickboxing and MMA) meet. Yokoyama has been one of the most outstanding Japanese fighters of the Shidokan for two decades and already stood at the K-1 World Max Japan Tournament in the final. The KO artist from Osaka is notorious for his excellent kicking technique and extravagant fighting style.
Fortenbacher had caused a stir in 2018 as an absolute underdog at the World Championships in Ukraine, when he defeated two highly favored Mongolian professional MMA fighters early in the semifinals and finals, each in round 1, and took the world title in a complete surprise for those familiar with the scene. In 2019 he also won the bronze medal at the All Japan Shidokan Open in Tokyo and just a week before that he won the JBJJF BJJ Championships in Odawara in the blue belt lightweight class.
Fortenbacher is currently preparing in the German Top Team HQ with his Shihan and the whole team for this challenge. The fight will take place on 11.06.2022 in Volos (Greece) at the "Soeno Cup" with the presence of Shidokan founder Yoshiji Soeno.
A victory in this fight would be a brilliant career jump for the German professional shooter. Of course, we keep all fingers crossed for him and hope for a repeat of a victory as a glaring underdog in this duel.
