The fifth Interclub tournament of the German Top Team was a real highlight yesterday. Fabulous 122 fights were held within eight hours and in two special superfights the "DEEP Jewels" Amazon Tanja Angerer was in the ring twice. For the first time, fighters from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network Europe from the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland were also present and with almost 130 entries, the tournament easily broke the previous record for participants.
Both in Jiu-Jitsu (with kimono) and in Luta Livre (without kimono) one could see exciting and technically very demanding fights. Some of the fighters completed 10 or more fights. Top fighter was the Reutlingen Shidokan world champion and professional shooter Sven Fortenbacher, who had to fight a total of 13 matches. The IC tournaments of the German Top Team therefore provide a lot of experience for the participants and prepare them skillfully for larger tournaments.
Tanja Angerer faced Isabel Thelen from GTT NRW in a Jiu-Jitsu Superfight over 5 minutes in submission-only mode. The spirited Isabel faced a brown belt as a white belt and gave everything, but had to admit defeat by submission. In another superfight "Jewels vs. Shooto" she then faced Shooto Japan veteran Markus Held in a 10 minute submission-only match, which the strong Reutlinger won by Kimura.
The participating schools were once again enthusiastic about the IC tournament, as fighters from 14 affiliated and friendly teams from all over Germany and Switzerland were at the start.
For the first time, special trophies were also awarded for the best team "Best Pack" and the best Submission Fighter "Submission Machine". The most successful team was again the German Top Team HQ in Reutlingen, followed by Team Luis Palharez (Kempten) and the German Top Team NRW (Kerken). The "Submission Machine" was Arbias Kuci from Team Impacto Stuttgart, who won both his weight class and the Absolute Class with an outstanding performance in BJJ and Luta Livre, ending all nine fights early with submission. An impressive performance of the Stuttgart!
