The Alpha Fighters from Grünsfeld around Martin Vath have always been among the strongest and most active teams of the German Top Team. So it's no surprise that the newly appointed base of the GTT for Baden-Württemberg also comes up with an Interclub tournament right away. At the Interclub 9 of the German Top Team fighters from 10 schools of the network meet and determine who may take home the coveted medals.
First and foremost, the purpose of the GTT's Interclub tournaments is to provide members of the schools with the opportunity to compete in order to be fit for upcoming challenges. For little money, one can compete in BJJ (with kimono) and Luta Livre (without kimono), compete against each other under a safe set of rules in a relaxed environment and thus gain valuable experience for larger competitions. The success of the fighters at national and international championships shows that the concept works.
But for the first time at Interclub 9, coaches from the German Top Team schools will compete against each other. In the "Battle Royale" tomorrow 8 coaches from the schools of the network will meet and fight in a real round robin for the victory in this special tournament. That means each coach will stand on the mat seven times and try to get the victory for his team in submission only mode.
The brackets for the 60 or so fights tomorrow are already posted on Smoothcomp and can be viewed.
